Program Description

Transfer from the hotel to Cairo airport for and early morning flight to Aswan. Breakfast before departure or after landing in Aswan (depending on departure time). Afterwards meet your guide. The first stop of the tour is the majestic temple of File, dedicated to the goddess Isis. Accessible only by boat, this stunning temple complex is located on Agilkia Island, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Nile waters. As you explore the temple grounds, you will see many well-preserved hieroglyphs and majestic carvings and learn about the fascinating mythology and history associated with this sacred site. Next, a tour of the impressive Aswan Dam, a marvel of Egyptian engineering. Your guide will tell you about the construction and importance of the dam, which controls the flow of the Nile and provides hydroelectric power to the region. Later, proceed to the Unfinished Obelisk, an ancient granite obelisk that remains partially carved into the rock. This colossal monument, if completed, would be the largest obelisk ever erected in Egypt. The guide will also cite the techniques used by the ancient Egyptians to carve these massive structures and the reasons why this one was not completed. Next, lunch at a local restaurant with picturesque views of the Nile, where you can sample authentic Egyptian flavours. In the afternoon, an optional relaxing cruise on the Nile. As you cruise in a felucca - a traditional Egyptian sailing boat - across the tranquil river, enjoy picturesque views of the Aswan skyline and the lush greenery along the banks. Depending on the time remaining, the opportunity to visit a Nubian village where you can learn about the unique culture and traditions of the Nubian people. Walk through the bustling streets and local markets, where you can meet the locals and better understand their lifestyle. Evening transfer back to the airport, return flight to Cairo.
