Rila monastery and Boyana church

The tour begins at the meeting point, followed by a transfer to Boyana Church, located in the Boyana district on the outskirts of Sofia. This small medieval church is renowned for its exceptionally well-preserved 1259 frescoes, considered masterpieces of Eastern European medieval art. Those who wish may also visit the church's interior.

The journey then continues to the Rila Monastery, founded in the 10th century and regarded as the most important Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria. Nestled in the scenic Rila Mountains, the monastery impresses visitors with its striking architecture, colourful wall paintings, intricate wood carvings and one of the country's richest collections of icons from different historical periods. Visitors who wish may also explore the interior of the monastery. Free time is provided to discover the complex at your own pace and enjoy its peaceful surroundings.
