Program Description
Discover the story of Tadeusz Kościuszko and see Kraków from the top of Kościuszko Mound. The visit combines a tour of the 19th-century Fort 2 “Kościuszko” with an exhibition dedicated to his life and work, followed by a climb to the top of the mound, offering views of Kraków and the surrounding area.
Your visit begins at Fort 2 “Kościuszko”, one of the surviving elements of the Kraków Fortress. The permanent exhibition Kościuszko - A Hero for Our Times presents the life and work of Tadeusz Kościuszko. Multimedia displays, interactive exhibits, original objects and film- and theatre-inspired elements allow you to explore his story from different perspectives.
You will learn more about Kościuszko’s role during the American War of Independence, his fight for freedom in Poland and the legacy he left behind.
You will then climb Kościuszko Mound, from where you can see Kraków and the surrounding area. From the top, you can spot Wawel, St Mary’s Basilica, the Cloth Hall and the Main Market Square. On a clear day, the view may stretch as far as the Tatra Mountains.
